International Open Access Week, 2024

Free Knowledge Africa joins the Open community in celebrating International Open Access Week, 2024.

“Open source is about collaborating; not competing.” – Kelsey Hightower

This week is a priceless opportunity to link the worldwide movement for open information sharing. This can be achieved with the development of legislative changes and the significance of social concerns impacting people globally. People, organizations, and institutions worldwide celebrate the event, which is organized by a worldwide advisory council that chooses the theme each year.

The International Open Access Week 2024 will be celebrated from the 21st to the 27th of October with the theme “Community over Commercialization”. The theme for this year is an invitation to collaborate in the open movement. For more information about International Open Access Week, please visit openaccessweek.org. The official hashtag for the week is #OAWeek.

Free Knowledge Africa will join the International Community in celebrating the International Open Access Week. The Creative Commons Outreach Working Group has invited members of the Free Knowledge Africa team to a panel discussion. This is in line with the 2024 theme “Community over Commercialization”.
